Hi Everyone, Just a quick post to let you all know that I am participating in Movember this year. For those of you who don’t know about Movember, it involves brave blokes such as myself forfeiting the razor for the whole of November as a fundraising exercise for Beyond Blue and the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia. For more information or to make a donation, visit the Official Movember Website Watch for photos of my burgeoning mo in coming days. Happy Movember, Ric

Well yes it is spring and what glorious weather we’re experiencing for this time of year! So let’s be ready and rearing to go for the long warmer months, with firm toned arms and shapely legs. What better way to do it than joining the Women’s only boot camp beginning on November 16th! Just over 5 weeks to Christmas and what a great goal that would be, to be fit and healthy for when Father Christmas arrives.

Remember that if outside aint your thang, there’s our in studio classes that will be equally as challenging and fun.

I look forward to seeing you in either location, either hair tousled in the breeze at Dick Lawrence Oval at women’s only boot camp or sweaty and happy at our in studio classes.

The importance of overdelivering on service

Hi Folks,
I want to share with you a situation that occurred today that really highlights the importance of overdelivering on service.

One of my number plates was stolen over the weekend so I had to apply to get new plates. I had to get a Statutory Declaration co-signed by a Justice of the Peace, Post Office Manager etc. so I headed out at 2.20pm telling Andre (my business partner) I would be back soon. I get the form signed and then I am off to the licensing centre. I take my number and wait. 20 minutes later my number is up and I approach the counter confident that I have all of my paperwork ready.

The woman behind the counter takes my paperwork and then asks for the other number plate. That’s still on the car. I explain this and she says “well you better go get it then”, I inform her that the car is just around the corner and can I come back in and see her in 2 minutes? “No, you will have to take another ticket”. Great!

I probably should have taken the second number plate off before I got there but as I had been pulled over by the cops last night and threatened with an infringement notice for only having 1 plate on the car, I really didn’t want to drive around without any plates on. I am in the car park trying to unscrew the number plate with the butt end of a fork I find in my car….no joy! I go back inside to ask if they have any screwdrivers but I’m told I have to take another number to be seen! 10 minutes later I am in front of another teller who informs me that they have no tools so they can’t help! Great.

Now I am asking anyone I see or a screwdriver with no luck. I finally get so frustrated that I start bending and wrenching the plate and I see that I am making the hole bigger. 5 minutes of brute force and I rip the number plate off. Back into the licensing centre, grabbing another ticket! 15 minutes later I am back at the original teller with the plate in hand. She smiles and tells me that it is $17.50 for the new plates. I pay, she hands me the new plates and is serving the next person before I can do anything. I walk to the car with 2 new number plates but no screws or anything to attach them back onto the car!

My point with this whole story is that if I had been told/informed that I would need to hand in the old plates and to provide new screws to attach the new plates I wouldn’t have wasted 2 hours of my working day. Better yet they could have the tools and provide new screws as part of their ‘service’.

At Fit For Health we are always looking to get better and better and I used the above time to think about how we could improve our service, even before people became part of our family. Part of that is creating this new website and adding tones of new content every week. Sending out our newsletters by email is another new thing to try to give you as much well researched info as possible.

We are also running our monthly seminars in the studio and all we ask is a gold coin donation to attend (this goes to various different charities, this month is the ‘adopt a dog’ campaign run by the Pet Doctor Veterinary Clinic in Bibra Lake). I will be focusing on ways to manage and reduce the symptoms of Arthritis with specific nutrition and exercise so come along, bring your friends and family to learn about this condition.
We will keep you updated about further changes that we will be making to ensure, those who want to, can get the best results possible, results for life!

Why I Love My Mum!

Yes I am a bit of a softy when it comes to my Mum. She has certainly put up with more then her fair share of dramas and accidents in bringing me up.

We also had some fanatastic times together and that continues as we both get older. She has had a massive influence on my life and I love sharing my successes with her (for a lot of years it was failures!). It is an absolute pleasure watching her with my niece, her first grand child, and I am looking forward to her having a big part in my grandchildrens lives (when they come along).

To hear more about some of the events my mun had to endure check out this months newsletter and hopefully this will inspire you to cherish your elationship with your parents whether they are still here or not.

Have fun

Hello and welcome to my blog.

I have so much awesome info to share with you and I am so excited to have this forum to be able to do it in. I will be posting all the time so make sure you check this out as often as possible.

Just a quick story about my soccer game on the weekend. I have started playing again after a break of about 20 years! I am in a masters (crusty old guys) team at Fremantle United.

We had our second cup game on Sunday and we won on penalties after drawing 3 all at full time. I am still unable to walk properly after 2 days as I played out the full game. I ned to do a bigger pre-season next time!

If you have any questions please feel free to post a comment and I will keep you updated on any upcoming adventures.

Have fun
Ric

P.S the clock is ticking down on my sisters pregnancy. I am so excited to be there at the birth again and twins are going to be a big challenge for all of us… stay tuned!
